The Chatham-Kent Police Service is dedicated to making Chatham-Kent the safest community in Ontario. With the holiday season upon us, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service will continue working towards getting the message out to the public that driving while impaired is unacceptable. The Chatham-Kent Police Service will be conducting their seasonal R.I.D.E (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) initiatives throughout the entire municipality. Acting Traffic Sergeant Mike Thompson says "100 % of impaired driving tragedies are preventable and the Chatham-Kent Police welcome the opportunity to support community partnerships such as HomeJames, who will help eliminate impaired driving in our community, returning our citizens home safe to their families over the holiday season". Please make the right decision not only during the Christmas season but also during the entire year. Please do not drink and drive.

The Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is committed to traffic safety and support various programs throughout the region that help eliminate impaired driving. The Provincial Traffic Safety Program has identified impaired driving as one of the four causal factors in death and serious injury on Ontario roadways.
In Ontario, impaired drivers cause thousands of traffic crashes every year and are responsible for approximately one-quarter of all people killed on Ontario roads.
“Drinking and driving hurts us all; by causing needless deaths, injuries and personal tragedies. We support all initiatives that will make our roadways safer, including prevention programs such as HomeJames.” says Chatham-Kent OPP Detachment Commander Brad Coulbeck.
The OPP will continue to conduct highly visible R.I.D.E. programs throughout the festive season to remove impaired drivers from our roads. We are focused squarely on those who choose to break the law by drinking and driving. Don’t drink and drive, don’t let those who are drinking drive and be sure to report those that do.
